Surveying and Levelling
Pocket size prisms as produced by Sentripod have the
advantage of multi fixing in practically any survey operation within
normal site range of 100 metres or thereabouts. Whilst designed for short range , distances of up to 200 metres are possible according to the instrument specifications.Used on detail poles
and tripods they provide a more precise fix due to pencil thin sighting
of the target. Particularly good in close sight work in buildings or
underground, culverts etc.and where the target may be internally lit
with LED.
Set on tripods or
ground station,
Sentripods
provide traverse and mapping control to establish accurate surveys of
buildings and engineering features. The omni prism illustrated here has
a diameter of 75 mm and carries a readily bisectable pencil thin
retroid , very easy to sight with pinpoint resolution to the axial
centre point.
Whether in gold mines in China,
indoor building surveys ,
railways ,accident investigations , pile driving ,waterways, archeology or setting out of works Sentripods
have met the challenge in all kinds of situations.
The
University of East London and the TSA School of Surveying use Sentripod
for student projects. Kingston University used them this year on a
surveying project in Malta and gave good reports.

Construction Setting out and
Monitoring
The foremost application for
Sentripod
is in or around construction sites.
To have up to 360 degree visibility
of a reference target on site is a
great time saving advantage.
Resectioning to such targets,
contact fixed on any surface out of
reach also means the cost of
retrieval can be forgotten.
In
the case of setting out, the time
saving advantage of a multi-face
target is obvious for the chainman
and surveyor getting a precise point
set out to a couple of mm.
As
Sentripods
are thread bored top and bottom they
can be screwed in to ground markers
or tunnel roofs easily, as with West Contracting Ltd at Manchester, they
can be fixed to monitor pile driving
throughout the site.

Clip mounting
Sentripodsenable
hundreds of metres of track to be set up for monitoring in all
weathers, day or night, very quickly ( see gallery page) In such fixing
the powerful spring clip to the rail web the Sentripod is able to
withstand high speed vibration , yet ensuring constant offset from the
running edge. The verticality of the retroid is maintained by inbuild
torpedo level . A locking device maintains angle of fix for any given
cant. Though offering rigid adherence to the rail, removal is achieved
by leverage at the point of contact with hammer blow technique.
The Railshoe and Omniprism illustrated to the left also embodies unique features such that the target centre always appears plumb over
the running edge. The Railshoe alternatively may be fitted with standard glass uniprisms
